Throughout the year, Lula Music and Arts centre presents world music concerts, often in conjunction with other presenting organizations such as Small World Music, Batuki Music Society, Uma Nota, Dos Mundos, and CubainToronto. Although our programming has a strong focus on music and dance with roots in South America and the Caribbean, our presentations often include music from Africa, India, Italy and around the globe.
Our weekly Friday and Saturday salsa series has become a pivotal force in developing local salsa bands as well as audiences for this music. Visit lula.ca to see when your favourite salsa groups will be performing at Lula Lounge.
Toronto is home to more than a dozen high calibre salsa groups. Our 2015 program includes performances by Cafe Cubano, Changui Havana, Ricky Franco, El Quinto, Orquesta Fantasia, Lula All Stars, Conjunto Lacalu, Tipica Toronto, Salsotika, Yani Borrell, Havana Norte, Moda Eterna and Son Ache.
Celebrate the end of the work week and launch your weekend with our weekly Friday Jazz Series. Each Friday at 7:30 PM, Lula Music and Arts Centre presents top latin and world jazz trios and quartets to enhance your afterwork cocktail or dining hour. Free admission to everyone before 8pm. Visit lula.ca for schedule and menu information.
You don’t need a partner to enjoy our beginner salsa lesson! Featuring Toronto’s top instructors, the class will lead beginners through the salsa basics while more experienced dancers warm up for the best salsa party in town. Lessons are at 9:30 pm on Fridays, 9 pm on Saturdays and at noon on Sundays. We also host a Cuban salsa class by Dailyn Martinez on Saturday afternoons at 2:30. Visit lula.ca for details.
